September 2023
Ahh September. The first full month of boat ownership coincided with a trip to Berlin for me to run a marathon AND the first hurricane forecasted to make landfall in Maine in over 70 years.
Before we got into that, we kicked off September with our last sailing class over labor day weekend in Michigan. It felt very different to be back in the classroom setting as certified boat owners.
When we returned we had the pleasure of scrambling to make foul weather plans, constantly scanning the forecasts and calling around to find the safest place. That week threw us some of our hardest boat curveballs, but all’s well that ends well. Thankfully, the hurricane altered course slightly and that landfall in Maine never came to be. At least not this time.
We left the boat tied up on a dock and caught a flight to London to celebrate my 30th. I ran the Berlin marathon and we celebrated with friends at Oktoberfest.
